All skiers must be confident swimming in deep water. While our life jackets provide excellent buoyancy, you will need to comfortably tread water while putting on your skis and waiting for the boat to tighten the tow rope.

What makes water skiing at Konnos Bay a superior experience?

Water skiing is the classic Mediterranean watersport, combining speed, balance, and the rush of gliding across the ocean’s surface. However, the quality of a water ski session is entirely dependent on the condition of the water. Konnos Bay is widely regarded as the best location for water skiing in Protaras because its towering coastal cliffs naturally protect the bay from prevailing winds.

Unlike open-ocean beaches where heavy chop and waves can make balancing difficult, Konnos Bay offers “glassy,” flat-water conditions. Whether you are a beginner trying to master the deep-water start or an advanced skier laying down aggressive slalom turns, these pristine conditions at Mike’s Watersports allow you to focus entirely on your technique rather than fighting the waves.

How much is a water ski session at Mike’s Watersports?

We keep our pricing simple, transparent, and focused on maximizing your time on the water. For the 2026 season, our standard water ski offering is:

  • The Classic Session (€40): A full 15 minutes of active towing time behind our powerful speedboats.

This price is fully inclusive. It covers the boat, fuel, a dedicated captain, your water skis, and an impact-rated buoyancy aid. If you are a beginner, our captains and dock staff will also provide a complimentary dry-land briefing to explain the physics of getting out of the water.

Pro Tip (Information Gain): The biggest mistake beginners make is trying to “pull” the boat by bending their arms. Let the boat do the work! Keep your arms perfectly straight, your knees bent into your chest, and let the 300-horsepower engine pull you up onto the surface.

Is water skiing difficult for absolute beginners?

While it looks effortless when done by a pro, water skiing does have a learning curve. However, with the right instruction and flat water, most beginners successfully stand up during their very first session.

We always start new riders on Dual Skis (two skis). These provide a wide surface area and excellent stability. Once you master the dual skis, our instructors can transition you to Slalom Skiing (using a single ski with two bindings), which allows for sharper carving and a much faster, more aggressive ride.
